When it comes to “must see” sites in San Diego, the Botanical Garden Building at Balboa Park is almost always mentioned. Recently, acclaimed Photography Artist Michael James Slattery stepped up to create and capture his vision of this landmark building and it's surroundings to honor the 100th Anniversary of the beloved park. Well known for his mix of old school photography skills and an artist's sensibilities, Slattery's print of the Botanical Garden Building is already winning quick praise.

According to Slattery, exploring light painting photography is one of his great passions and this piece gave him the chance to explore it in new and interesting ways.
Tracing the history of the Botanical Garden Building back to the 1915-16 Exposition, along with the adjacent Lily Pond and Lagoon, the historic building has intrigued the photography artist for generations. The structures horticulture include more than 2,100 permanent plants with flowers being prominently featured. Another appealing part of the Botanical Garden Building is that it has attracted the interest of many a fine art landscape photographer. By all accounts Michael James Slattery's print is one of the most interesting examples in this area.
